The Alabama Mobile County School District wanted to bolster its relationship with the community. Like any public school, its funding depends on the support of local voters and taxes. So the district wanted to make sure to showcase its achievements effectively.
“Voters are more likely to support the school district if they know their tax money is well spent,” says David Akridge executive manager of Technology for Mobile County. The district was concerned the newsletters and bulletins it mailed out weren’t doing enough to keep the community informed. In the mountain of paper mail people receive daily these items are easily lost or simply tossed aside. The district needed a better way of promoting itself to the community.
Mobile County decided to look into a digital signage solution. The district already had a Cisco network in place that it used for Cisco Unified Communications so it made sense to see what else the company had to offer. Information Transport Solutions, Inc. served as the integrator on the project. They recommended using Cisco’s Digital Media System.
