There’s been a lot of buzz about 4K lately. That’s probably because this upcoming TV technology can deliver eye-popping resolutions that are about four times that of a full 1080p HDTV.

JVC Professional Products Company is getting ready for the 4K revolution, announcing the new PS-840UD Professional Series monitor. Specifically designed for business and industry use, command and control applications and public signage, this 84-incher is part of the ProVérité line and has an eye-popping native screen resolution of 3840x2160.

Other features include an IPS LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, and a 178-degree viewing angle. It’s also compatible with Intel open pluggable specification (OPS) for digital signage devices.

The company plans to market the PS-840UD through JVC Professional Products’ authorized Pro Video resellers.

“4K is destined to become the new ‘HD,’ and JVC is excited to be at the forefront of introducing this exciting new display technology to the marketplace,” said Lon Mass, vice president of JVC’s Professional Video Division. “While other 4K products are targeting high-end niche markets, we have positioned these new monitors to bring 4K into mainstream use for home and business.”

JVC expects the PS-840UD to start selling sometime in January 2013, with an MSRP under $20,000.
