When done right, asset management should be considered asset optimization. When every item of worth in an organization is accounted for, the groundwork is set to make each item work most efficiently. Asset management plays a role in helpdesk functionality by way of anticipating potential problems like the need for a new projector bulb. Time and space questions to set up meetings can be quickly addressed with all conference room information contained in one location that can be accessed by touchpanel or smartphone.

What is an Asset?

When consulting with clients about asset management, the first order of business from CCS Presentation Systems based in Scottsdale, AZ is: Give us a list of what you think assets are. “A lot of them think the room itself is an asset; and it is,” says Rod Andrewson, manager of Engineering at CCS. “Then they have to break it down: Are the things in the room assets? Yes. Are there human assets? Yes, letting someone know if I am in or out of my office. That’s a component of asset management as well.”
