This year, our sister publication “Commercial Integrator” named its first annual class of systems integrator leaders. What does that mean for you? These integrators are they types of firms you would be hiring to run your own projects. You may have even already worked with them. Even if you haven’t, these integrator firms are a fount of knowledge about where audiovisual and control are heading in the next decade.

The methodology behind these CI 2012 Industry Leaders is a combination of self-provided information and information provided by consultants and equipment vendors. Research was also done on each firm discussed to determine the best area its leadership is prevalent in over the last three years, including industry trade publications and published case studies.

These five companies are not ranked 1 through 5, but are grouped together alphabetically as “well-qualified providers of products and services within the various vertical markets,” says Mark Mayfield, a special consultant for Commercial Integrator.

Commercial Integrator is a magazine for systems integrators, but what they have to say is relevant for the TechDecisions readers as well. The leaders were chosen by a number metrics. They aren’t necessarily the largest, but they are high earners. Many are regionally based. What they do is dominate the markets in which they work. They know them. And we can learn from them.
